Final Trailer Review: Could Hobbs & Shaw's Bring Back Past Fast & Furious Villains

The final trailer to The Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw has been released and my thoughts are not clear, not one hundred percent because my mind was blown. We got a little more of the back and forth with The Rock and Jason but what I found more appealing with this trailer that has elevated my excitement for this upcoming blockbuster is what we've seen from Idris Elba thus far.

Black Superman indeed, I've come to expect an epic ass whooping from Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. Watching their movies for years, I've been indoctrinated in the world of butt whoop that these two have been champions in and will continue to dominate for years to come. Not taking anything away from the hard work stunt doubles do, the director and the skilled special effects experts at all. What this trailer has shown me is that they are making the latest villain of the Fast Furious Franchise a true threat to epic proportions. I'm use to the stunts with cars but to see a super enhanced motorcycle riding boss man taking on hit after hit, dodging multiple close calls and walking off a straight forward collision and crashing through a London city bus.

This has raised my speculations that we are heading for a legion of doom style alliance of the surviving villains of the collective films. There are a lot of them out there in jail or on the run. My hope is that Elba's character will be the one to bring them all together. I speculate that Charlize Theron will make a cameo and this will lead into events that will surpass the ninth film and make Fast & Furious X, which is what I'm calling the tenth installment. Will Carter Verone ever get his revenge against Roman Pearce? These are the questions that keep me up at night.

After watching all three of these trailers raise the stakes and my hopes that the film sticks the landing I'm going in rooting for the bad guys just a little bit more than the beloved heroes. If my speculations are correct this debut spin off will become the foundation of what the ninth and tenth film (FFX) should be.

Hobbs & Shaw is scheduled to debut August 8, 2019

Synopsis

After eight films that have amassed almost $5 billion worldwide, the Fast & Furious
franchise now features its first stand-alone vehicle as Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham
reprise their roles as Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs &
Shaw.

Ever since hulking lawman Hobbs (Johnson), a loyal agent of America's Diplomatic Security
Service, and lawless outcast Shaw (Statham), a former British military elite operative, first
faced off in 2015’s Furious 7, the duo have swapped smack talk and body blows as they’ve
tried to take each other down.

But when cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist Brixton (Idris Elba) gains control of an
insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever — and bests a brilliant and fearless
rogue MI6 agent (The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby), who just happens to be Shaw’s sister —
these two sworn enemies will have to partner up to bring down the only guy who might be
badder than themselves.

Hobbs & Shaw blasts open a new door in the Fast universe as it hurtles action across the
globe, from Los Angeles to London and from the toxic wasteland of Chernobyl to the lush
beauty of Samoa.

Directed by David Leitch (Deadpool 2) from a script by longtime Fast & Furious narrative
architect Chris Morgan, the film is produced by Morgan, Johnson, Statham and Hiram
Garcia. The executive producers are Dany Garcia, Kelly McCormick, Steven Chasman, Ethan
Smith and Ainsley Davies.
