Queen And Slim Movie Review

Queen and Slim is a film staring Daniel Kaluuy and Jodie Turner-Smith, written by Lena Waithe about a black couple on their first date who get pulled over by a cop and having the situation turning from routine to nightmare causing the couple to have to kill the police officer in self defense. Feeling that they are in a no win situation and that no one would believe their side of the story, they run away. Throughout the movie I asked my self many questions that were also asked in the film. When it came to the moment of the traffic stop I felt the most uncomfortable. The movie did a great job capturing the awkwardness of the date and the tense feelings being pulled over by a cop as well as the feeling of pressure to stand up for you rights and walk the line of trying not to escalate the situation.

The best part of the movie was seeing two people who seemed to not have much in common find love and strength in a world that both praised and hated them. Queen, at first seemed like a cold and rough around the edges person who was fed up with being disappointed. Slim, came off to much of a push over that was too willing to let bad things happen because he was too fearful to speak his mind. Throughout the journey both characters became exactly what they needed to be for themselves and for each other. This is one of those films where I don't know what I would have done in that situation.

To me, the best performance came from all of the co-stars in this film. The people that help Queen and Slim along the way. Bokeem Woodbine as Uncle Earl along with Indya Moore were some of the most entertaining yet heart felt moments. By the time of me writing this report this film is currently sitting at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. I give my reasons why I would not give this movie a perfect score, mainly because there were some decisions by the writing or direction of this film that I deemed unrealistic or done to make a point that would not ring true in the real world. This film is not going to change the hearts and minds of people who go in with their hearts and minds already made up on this type of situation. If you’re pro-cops and feel that people get themselves in trouble when they “disobey” officers then you’ll probably feel that way about Queen and Slim going out. If you feel that cops are not perfect and that there are bad actors in any profession, racism still exists and a cop can be racist like anyone else is capable, then you’ll leave feeling the same way. I am a black man in American and I know what its like to have a tense situation get worse and worse no matter how progressive or woke we think we’ve become. Films like this are reminder of what is really going on in some parts of the world and what some people will not believe ever happens to others because it doesn’t happen to them. Films like this, when they are done right, as this one was are always necessary.

I recommend people see it because its gives the right message at the right time. Ironically its also a great date movie. Despite all of the things that goes wrong with Queen and Slim the love that grows between them is heartfelt. The people that both Queen and Slim become the further and further they go makes the viewer root for the love between them to blossom just as loud as you would root for to escape the dangers that are all around them. I took away that the chances of their escape were intertwined with their chances of them accepting each. The thing to figure out is can they have it all or is one sacrificed for the other.

How Does The Countdown Movie Range In The Freddy Krueger Effect?

A couple weeks before the movie debuted at theaters, i took a look at the horror film Countdown staring Elizabeth Lail and Jordan Calloway. Directed & Screenplay by Justin Dec who's only director credits are a few video shorts and a TV Movie. Now, I'll say that cutting his teeth on a film like this was a great jumping part. I feel that Dec gives good directed and pulled out a lot of steller performances out of his cast whom I would bet had a great working chemistry and just had a blast working together overall.

My review of Countown on YouTube. Become a Subscriber, Like and Share

This movie is based on an ancient biblical curse that has found its way into an app that lets you know exactly when you're going to die. Trick is figuring out how to beat the system before it kills you. Enter our hero Quinn Harris played by Elizabeth Lail. Quinn is a new registered nurse who has to deal with the realization that a new app that only gives her a little over two days to live just maybe the real deal when she's haunted by people in her life that have been victimized by the app or have long been dead in her life. She feels that she is going crazy and is only vindicated when Matt Monroe, played by Jordan Calloway of Black Lightning says he's having the same issues and has just about the same amount of time to live. The performance by Jordan was exceptionally well done by the young brother (I can say that by-the-way) and shows me that he may be one of the few that can make it out of television fame and become a serious contender to the big screen as a leading actor. Keep an eye out for this young man.

Break out performances that stole the show were two fold. P.J. Byrne and Tom Segura. Both of these guys could have had the movie be about them and would have totally crushed it. I could see a sequel being made by the two of them alone and make this franchise really work.

The reasons I see franchise potential, if the film is a success, is due to what I call the Freddy Effect.

FREDDY EFFECT PERCENTAGE

The myth of Freddy Krueger was amplified by the real life reactions of children who saw the film and had real nightmares about the character. It made people grow up believing "Is this real or possible" of course it was not (or was it) and people eventually moved on. It is still fun to have those types of reactions from a movie. Since we live in a world where smartphones are considered a basic need to live like water, air, land and food its not hard to insert a horror element that can disrupt the way we view these phone applications. If the marketing was better at promoting the film and not afraid of the backlash from parents or social media or both then the myth of "Is This Real Or Possible" would have made the movie a lot better to experience. Not necessarily a better film but a better experience that could lead into a franchise. Paranormal Activity had a touch of the Freddy Effect based on how people view ghost, haunting and religion. Countdown even more so because of the fact that the fact of the majority of humans on earth own a smartphone, 100% of them have to sleep. The F.E. percentage of 71.4% potentially. For Paranormal Activity only 45% of people believe in ghost. The numbers speak for themselves.

At the end of the day Countdown was a lot of fun and I would not mind seeing more of this. its rated PG-13 when it could very easily been an R film. The horror was not in the blood and guts it was in the shadows and the creepy ways the monster tortures you before you meet your end. Its a fun movie to go see before Halloween and get creeped out before trick or treating. Warning there are some graphic kill scenes. Prepare Yourself.

Hustlers Movie | REVIEW

The hustlers movie review. Now I just I've seen the movie while ago absorbing exactly what took part in and really getting an understanding of what this movie is the attempts behind it. Where it succeeded, where it failed and things like that. Working as a stripper to make ends meet, Destiny's life changes forever when she becomes friends with Ramona -- the club's top money earner. Ramona soon shows Destiny how to finagle her way around the wealthy Wall street clientele who frequent the club. But when the 2008 economic collapse cuts into their profits, the gals and two other dancers devise a daring scheme to take their lives back. So basically, you know the financial crisis hits and we go into a situation where these women decide to take matters in their own hand. I'm a real estate broker, I like movies that tie into these things. I'm into two stocks, I'm into real estate and that's my thing so movies. It was a Boiler Room, Wall Street, the wolf of Wall Street, the big short and Molly's game for instance. I love those movies like that tie in around Wall Street and everything that led into the housing crisis; before and after I don't know why fascinates me I love those stories.

I was hoping that the hustles would be another one of those installments I'm always looking for another one to tie in. I like movies like that and if you guys have any suggestions you have any recommendations you want me to take a look at. Hustlers, even though it was directly tied into it in a way from a certain point of view, it does not hold up to the caliber like of a big short and whatnot and here's why. There's the things that I liked about it Constance Wu of course she crushed it. Jennifer Lopez this is one of the best roles that I've seen Lopez in. Their chemistry get was good I love the the

back-and-forth with them. How they were as mothers to their their kids. At the end of the day
people are only looking out for themselves. Their in an environment where backstabbers are all around you, people will cut your throat. They'll smile in your face and they'll cut your throat. Destiny just did not know what to call it, how to call it and I love that about this. The fact that Jennifer Lopez could be smiling in your face and you're thinking to yourself ‘are you about to betray betray me?’ any rational person would and should in that environment. I screwed you over to protect myself, I got people to think about. You look at that like at any moment any person would be justified to blow up and then you have these moments where it's like I understand. The people that they're doing this to now that was where I felt the movie was lacking. If there was more of a conversations of what these men that they were robbing did on a day-to-day. Like the real messed up ones I mean you just had people you pretty much had them portrayed as douchebags. The movie wasn't really trying to make them seem like the heroes because they really weren't doing a great job of making the people that they were robbing seem like villains so it was almost like two pairs of jerks clashing and maybe that was the point.

You have Cardi B which makes sense you know you got Cardi B herself who was a stripper I felt that they dropped the ball on that one because if she's one of the main actresses if there was any character I could have seen like she could play Kiki Palmer's character Mercedes. maybe that would have been good for Cardi B then when I saw what was needed for that character I was like man maybe Cardi B not ready acting wise for that for that type of a role maybe Annabelle maybe, maybe not. Cardi B has so much charisma and has a different type of energy having her where she was was fine but then Lizzo’s character I mean she even played the flute. John Campea talks about you get the actor that can serve the movie the movies not supposed to serve the actress or the actor. Now having her in the movie in the cameo is fine and doing what she did was fine but the second that flute came out which I like that about I like about Liz oh and the fact that she's a flutist and plays the flute and she's a good rapper and all that stuff is awesome but throwing that into the film was too much fan service man it didn't do anything for the movie it took me out of it completely. I didn't feel like that story needed to be two hours long it just it was 30 too long.

Betty Gilpin & Hilary Swank Bring The Hunt To Blumhouse: Trailer Review

Twelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They don’t know where they are, or how they got there. They don't know they've been chosen… for a very specific purpose … The Hunt.
The reasons why I'm excited about this film:Hillary Swank and Betty Gilpin. The latter a tad bit more than the former. I'm would have been surprised at that admittedly two years ago but today is the new reality. I've always been a fan of Hilary Swank's work. two time Oscar winner and over all bad ass. I think Million Dollar Baby is my favorite performance from her. When ever i see her on the roster I know the project will have an A Lister that brings her A game to the table. From the trailer I can see that Swank is either the top dog (power that be) in charge of a sick organization who likes to kidnap and hunt people or is a corporate middleman that may be apart of something much bigger on a more global evil scale. Either way, she's a boss.

Paring her up against Betty Gilpin would not have been my cup a tea but ever since GLOW on Netflix Gilpin has become the one to watch out for. I have to confess that my first time seeing her in anything was in Nurse Jackie and her character did not land well with me. I couldn't tell if it was the writing, her performance, direction or a combination but something did not sit right. I then became a believer when I took a chance on the GLOW series and she blew my mind. I didn't realize that I was an official fan until I saw her on this trailer. I instantly recognized her, I immediately took her as a plausible hero/lead and I am genuinely curious how well she handles going toe to toe with The Swank.

With the combination of a very exciting cast and the track record of Blumhouse, I'm extremely excited about this one. If done right it can be the next franchise horror film to raise the stakes of shock horror. The premise to me feels like the purge done with a tad more realism. Keeping the murders hidden and made for sport to me feels like can happen and that makes it more scarier to me.

I expect a lot of twists and am hopeful for a surprise ending. The cast is amazing and the trailer makes me feel like this is more of a roller coaster right through a slaughter house. My kind of ride.

Synopsis:
In the shadow of a dark internet conspiracy theory, a group of globalist elites gathers for the very first time at a remote Manor House to hunt humans for sport. But the elites’ master plan is about to be derailed because one of the hunted, Crystal (Betty Gilpin, GLOW), knows The Hunters’ game better than they do. She turns the tables on the killers, picking them off, one by one, as she makes her way toward the mysterious woman (two-time Oscar® winner Hilary Swank) at the center of it all.

From Jason Blum, the producer of Get Out and The Purge series, and Damon Lindelof, co-creator of the TV series The Leftovers and Lost, comes a new mysterious social thriller.  The Hunt is written by Lindelof and his fellow The Leftovers’ collaborator Nick Cuse and is directed by Craig Zobel (Z for ZachariahThe Leftovers). Blum produces for his Blumhouse Productions alongside Lindelof. The film is executive produced by Zobel, Cuse and Steven R. Molen.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Is A Story of Cowboys & Hippies

More than anything I feel that Once Upon a Time In Hollywood was a western set in Hollywood California. The theme being instead of the old stereotype of Cowboys and Indians was Actors and Hippies. Brad Pit played a cowboy type tough guy, strong silent type, a mans man. This film also made me think of that question asked Tarantino from the reporter with the Washington Post asked him why his movie did not feature more Margot Robbie. After seeing the film I have to strongly agree with Mr. Tarantino. This movie was a love letter to Sharon Tate. This was not about Margot Robbie. Her ability to serve the story and give honor to the life and tragic death of a fallen star at the hands of madmen and women was crafted extremely well. I think Tarantino won't be credited enough for what he did for her memory. My new ranking will include this instant classic in my top five of Tarantino movies.

1. Kill Bill (vol 1 & 2)
2. Pulp Fiction
3. Django Unchanged
4. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
5. Englorious Bastards

What Happened When I Took Princess Anna To See The Horror Movie Crawl

As you may remember I did a interview with Princess Anna from Disney's Frozen and after the interview she kind of got stuck here. Getting back home was more difficult than it was getting her here so she's gonna be here for a while. I already had plans to go see a movie and do a review for it so I brought her along.

We saw the movie Crawl and I'm about to do a review of it so maybe it wasn't such a good idea to take a Disney princess on her first movie experience to a horror. "It was so scary", said Anna "those poor people if if this was Arendelle that wouldn't happen. My sister Queen Elsa would definitely just freeze those scary alligators and they would be in an ice block and and then we would save the day. You guys need us here".That would have made a much more interesting ending or story to that adventure; unfortunately they did not have Queen Elsa in this horror movie but you know what I'll just give my my review on exactly  what happened so here's my take on the film. Well I had a real good time. I feel like this was a very very good time at the movies. It was very scary and very tense. There was a couple of people in the theater with us
who really felt like they were in the
movie. It made them jump so much it made
me feel like the water was gonna come
out of screen and just flood us all.
With all the yelling and yipping
it felt like some people were
going to draw the alligators in to the audience but that
just made the experience that much more
tense and that much more fun. It's a
real good time at the theaters if
you're into these jump scares and these
tents claustrophobic moments. Go check
out crawl it's it's a lot of fun don't
take a Disney Princess with you because
that's a total interesting thing.

Starring Kaya Rose Scodelario-Davis and Barry Pepper,
they did a very good job in this movie
and it made it that much more enjoyable. S
o like I say go check it out I
recommend it you'll have a good time.

Amanda Talks The Lion King 2019 Movie From The Lobby | REVIEW

Amanda Pierson was able to catch the Lion King during opening weekend at the local AMC Theater in Houston Texas. Armed with a glitter microphone and a hat to match.

"From AMC it's opening night of the Lion King. The movie is adorable live-action is probably a hundred percent cuter. I will say that I cried about five times probably in a minute and a half going into probably five minutes and then minute twelve and then a little bit at the end but I will say I wasn't the only one crying. There's family with five crying in front of me and I'm pretty sure they probably cried the whole time. So I don't feel like such a baby. Crying aside, I believe it was actually adorable. All of the songs were the same which was great cause you can sing along. All of the actors were great. My favorite part was when Beyonce's song come on when Simba and Nala were running back to the Pride Land. I would watch it again it was so so adorably hopefully I won't cry as much next time.

I definitely think it's worth seeing its very peaceful. Overall I give it a thumbs up.
